BULAWAYO, OCT 15 (SOUTHERN EYE LIVE): PLUMTREE Town Council has ordered public service vehicles operating on local and cross-border routes to relocate from Ephaneni Rank to Dingumuzi Rank from October 19, as it moves to restore order in the border town’s central business district.
In Notice 87 of 2026 dated October 14, town secretary Thembalami Nyoni said the directive applied to public transport operators servicing Bulilima, Mangwe, Bulawayo and other transit routes.
“All public service vehicles are instructed to move from Ephaneni Rank to Dingumuzi Rank,” the notice read.
The directive also covers public service vehicles travelling to destinations outside Zimbabwe, with Dingumuzi Rank designated as their first point of call for picking up and dropping off passengers within Plumtree.
Council said the relocation was part of Operation Tjenesa, a campaign aimed at restoring order in the central business district and designated industrial areas.
“All operators are expected to comply. Non-compliance will not be condoned,” the notice read.
Meanwhile, council has summoned all vendors operating within Plumtree to a meeting today, October 15, to discuss vending operations under the same initiative.
In a separate notice issued through its public relations department, council said the meeting would be held at TMB Hall at 2pm, with all vendors expected to attend in person.

“Your attendance is important,” the notice reads.
The two notices signal council’s efforts to regulate public transport operations and vending activities as part of its drive to restore order in the town.
However, the notices do not specify the enforcement measures that will be taken against vendors or transport operators who fail to comply with the directives.
