HIGHLANDERS assistant coach Mkhokheli Dube will miss Sunday’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash against Manica Diamonds at Barbourfields Stadium as he travelled to Germany with the Zimbabwe Under-16 select team for the Bayern Youth Cup finals.
Dube has been entrusted with leading the young Zimbabwean side at the international tournament, which takes place on the same day Bosso host Manica Diamonds in Bulawayo.
His absence leaves Highlanders without one of their technical team members for the potentially challenging league encounter as they continue their domestic campaign.
The former Highlanders player is part of the coaching team preparing the Under-16 side for the competition, which offers young Zimbabwean footballers an opportunity to showcase their talent on an international stage.
Highlanders acknowledged Dube’s departure, wishing him and the team well as they represent the country in Germany.
“From Bulawayo to Germany. Our assistant coach Mkhokheli Dube has travelled to Germany with the Zimbabwe U-16 select squad for the Bayern Youth Cup finals.
“Wishing coach Dube and the entire squad all the best on the international stage,” the club said.
Dube’s involvement in the Bayern Youth Cup finals comes as Zimbabwe continues efforts to expose emerging football talent to international competition and development opportunities.
