GERMANY-BASED midfielder Jonah Fabisch is thrilled to be part of the Zimbabwe national football team, the Warriors, seeing it as a meaningful continuation of his late father’s profound influence.

Fabisch, who had his inaugural training session yesterday at Lanoria Club, is preparing for international friendlies slated to begin this week in Morocco.

Jonah’s father, Reinhard, was a former coach of the Zimbabwe national team, a connection that deeply inspires the young player.

“It’s definitely an inspiration. My father is the whole reason I started playing football and his connection to the Zimbabwe national team as a former coach makes it even more special to be here,” Fabisch shared.

Despite the significant family ties, Fabisch asserted that he does not feel overwhelmed by pressure.

“I don’t think it puts pressure on me because I have my own career, I have to go my own path and unfortunately he’s not here to help or see, but I think it draws more strength than pressure.”

Looking ahead, Fabisch outlined his aspirations for his burgeoning international career.

“My goal for the future is to play in front of the fans one day in Zimbabwe and until then, I just hope to see everyone soon, hope to perform for the team and try and just do my best for the country,” he said.

Fabisch is a professional footballer who currently plays as a midfielder for German third-tier club FC Erzgebirge Aue, and he now proudly represents the Zimbabwe national team.

The player is part of the new-look Warriors’ squad made up of players who are looking to make a claim in the team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations finals in December.

Coach Michael Nees has promised to give as many players as possible game time in the friendly matches against Burkina Faso and Niger.
