THE Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) heralded a new chapter in the nation’s football administration as its executive committee became fully constituted.
This pivotal development follows a significant meeting between Zifa president Nqobile Magwizi and the recently elected chairpersons of the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Isaiah Mupfurutsa, and the Zimbabwe Women’s Soccer League (ZWSL), Chido Chizondo.
Mupfurutsa and Chizondo, who secured their respective positions in key elections held last week, will now be officially co-opted into the Zifa executive committee.
This integration completes the 11-member board, which is now poised to drive forward the strategic direction of Zimbabwean football.
A Press statement released by Zifa yesterday confirmed the latest development.
“The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) wishes to announce that president Nqobile Magwizi, accompanied by general secretary Yvonne Manwa, today held a cordial and constructive meeting with the newly-elected chairpersons of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and the Zimbabwe Women’s Soccer League (ZWSL), Isaiah Mupfurutsa and Chido Chizondo, respectively,” Zifa said.
“The meeting marked an important milestone as the Zifa executive committee is now fully constituted following the successful elections of the two chairpersons last week.”
Added the statement: “The president warmly welcomed Mr Mupfurutsa and Ms Chizondo to the committee and expressed confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing transformation of Zimbabwean football.

“During the engagement, the new executive committee members received a comprehensive status update on the association’s operations, as well as progress reports on key projects and initiatives currently underway.
“These critical areas include institutional reforms, youth and grassroots development, infrastructural improvements and commercial partnerships.”
The current Zifa executive board, led by Magwizi, assumed office after being voted for by the Zifa Congress on January 25, 2025.
Magwizi is supported by two vice-presidents, former PSL chief executive officer (CEO) Kennedy Ndebele and Herentals CEO Loveness Makura.
The six other committee members who form part of the board are Tafadzwa Benza, Kudzai Kadzombe, Alice Zeure, Daveson Muchena, Thomas Marambanyika and Brighton Ushendibaba.
This new board officially took over from the Normalisation Committee that had been installed by Fifa in 2023.
With the executive committee now complete, Zifa reiterated its commitment to collaborative efforts across all facets of the game.
“Zifa remains committed to fostering collaboration and alignment across all levels of the game, and looks forward to working closely with the PSL and ZWSL leadership in the shared pursuit of growth, professionalism and success for Zimbabwean football,” the statement concluded.
