Musona, Billiat miss on PSL best XI

Musona, who has plied his trade in Europe and the Middle East, featured in 10 games, starting eight of them after joining the club in July.

Former Kaizer Chiefs duo Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona have missed out on the 2025 Premier Soccer League Best XI of the Season, even though their brilliance helped Scottland FC clinch the league title in their maiden campaign.

Musona, who has plied his trade in Europe and the Middle East, featured in 10 games, starting eight of them after joining the club in July. According to Scottland FC, he played 676 minutes, scoring two goals and providing three assists.

Musona was credited with helping to stabilise the 2025 Zimbabwe champions through his astute leadership and composure on the pitch, while the former Mamelodi Sundowns talisman, Billiat, added two goals and a handful of assists that proved pivotal in the club’s surge up the table.

Their combined effort lifted Scottland FC to a historic moment, winning the coveted league title in their debut season. Scottland FC capped the campaign with a 2‑1 victory over TelOne FC on ]  November 22at Ascot Stadium in Gweru.

However, on Tuesday, , the duo was overlooked by the 2025 Soccer Stars panel of selectors, which consists of club captains, coaches and selected football writers.

Former Polokwane City FC forward Walter Musona—who was the 2024 Soccer Star of the Year—also missed out. In 2024, Billiat secured two awards: the Fans’ Choice Player of the Year award and was named the second‑runner‑up for the Soccer Star of the Year.

For the 2025 Zimbabwe PSL Best XI of the Season, Scottland’s duo of Tymon Machope and Kevin Moyo—formerly with Chippa United—made the cut. Emmanuel Jalai, Andrew Mbeba, Jarrison Selemani and Washington Navaya of Dynamos FC, Highlanders, FC Platinum and TelOne FC, respectively, were also voted in.

The MWOS FC duo of Abubakar Moffat and Billy Veremu, along with the Simba Bhora trio of Isheanesu Mauchi, Emmanuel Ziocha and goalkeeper William Thole, complete the list.

Scottland FC coach Tonderai Ndiraya and MWOS FC coach Lloyd Mutasa are the favourites for the Coach of the Year award. Nevertheless, both veterans—Billiat and Musona—are now looking beyond domestic glory.

With the 2025 Afcon in Morocco looming, they hope to ignite the stage for Zimbabwe’s Warriors in what could be the final major tournament of their careers.
