FootGolf fever grips Kadoma as sport expands across Zim

FootGolfers

OVER 80 FootGolfers from across Zimbabwe converged at Kadoma Golf Course this past Saturday, marking a key milestone in the sport’s rapid national growth.

Participants from a record 34 districts took part in the tournament, which not only showcased emerging talent, but also served as a strategic platform to expand the sport’s footprint across the country.

The strong turnout highlights FootGolf’s growing appeal in Zimbabwe, driven by grassroots development, rising provincial participation and an expanding pool of junior players targeting international competition.

FootGolf Zimbabwe president Daniel Kuwengwa hailed the event as a success, pointing to the high level of competition, particularly among juniors.

“The tournament was well attended with more than 80 FootGolfers from almost all the provinces,” he said.

Kuwengwa hailed Kadoma Golf Course as an elite facility for grooming international-level players and said the association is stepping up efforts to grow FootGolf at the community level.

The expansion drive is expected to boost participation nationwide, with players highlighting the sport’s unique blend of golf precision and football energy as a major attraction.

“FootGolf is the perfect family event,” said Winnet Banda, a medic from Harare Province. “I’m thrilled to be part of this community, where unity, teamwork, and humility come first.”

For Natasha Sibanda from Kwekwe’s Zhombe East district, the tournament provided an eye-opening introduction to the sport.

“Huge shoutout to the FootGolf crew! I’ve already learned so much — from precision kicks to strategy and sportsmanship,” she

said.

Shylet Mbono of Silobela shared similar sentiments, calling the FootGolf community her second home while offering constructive feedback.

“My experience of learning a new sport — its uniqueness, the new skills and the excitement — has been incredible. However, some participants took too much time on the same hole,” she said.

The Kadoma tournament’s success has sparked optimism for FootGolf’s future in Zimbabwe, as the sport steadily reaches new communities nationwide.
