Special Advisor to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Dr. Paul Tungwarara.

Special Advisor to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Dr. Paul Tungwarara has embarked on a massive trajectory of bringing unity and preaching harmony within the ruling party Zanu PF at the back of growing infighting in the ruling to succed President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Dr. Tungwara during his address on the disbursement of the Presidential Constituency Empowerment Fund in Nyanga this week said he was on a mission to bring unity within the rank and file of the ruling party while also calling out ambitious party cadres who were formenting disunity.

He defiantly stood by comments he made previously in Marange, framing them as part of a broader struggle within the ZANU-PF party.

Some ambitious party cadres perceived his remarks as personal attacks.

Dr. Tungwarara also stressed the need to respect the President, his deputies and the Cabinet.

During his adress, Dr. Tungwarara emphasized that his statements were not directed at individuals but were part of a broader strategy to unite the party while also putting in check impatient ambitious part cadres. He also called out ambitious cadres who were misappropriating the name of President Mnangagwa’s name for their own gain, asserting that "99 percent" of the allegations surrounding these issues were fabricated.

“We shall fight, especially here in Manicaland, for Vision 2030 to be a reality,” Dr. Tungwarara declared. He reiterated that his prior comments—which have caused quite a stir on social media—were not intended to target anyone specifically. “I did not mention anyone’s name, but I spoke about myself. What I said broke the internet, and names were thrown out. I am ready to die today; we need order in the party, and I am not afraid of anyone,” he asserted.

Dr. Tungwarara noted that he was on a trajectory ot uniting the ruling party noting that his call for unity reflects a commitment to the party's vision and highlights the challenges ahead.

As the party gears up for upcoming initiatives tied to Vision 2030, the remarks from Dr. Tungwarara reveal a growing tension among party members and the need for an intervetion to bring unity within the ruling party. His willingness to confront dissent within the ranks had demonstrated a fearless approach to leadership as he continued to warn against those who seek to instigate confusion for personal gain.  Dr. Tungwarara disbursed the Presidential Constituency Empowerment Fund to – Nyanga North and Nyanga South in Nyanga, bringing to 23 the number of constituencies that have each received US$25 000 for grassroots party-empowerment programmes.

Only the three Mutare urban constituencies are outstanding, and are expected to receive their share soon.

Dr. Tungwarara also gave  war collaborators, ex-political detainees and restrictees, non-combatant cadres US$50,000, widows of fallen heroes US$50 000, respectively, and US$20 000 for a local clinic, as well as Starlink kits for 40 schools in Nyanga South, before pledging Starlink kits for all schools in the province before the end of the year.

He also noted that when Blessed Runesu Geza, one of President Mnangagwa critics rose up and started attacking the President, several party cadres went underground but he was only person who managed to call out  Geza against attacking the Presidium.

“i came out in the open and fought Geza while you were quiet. Now that Geza is finished, and we tell you not to be ambitious, you now want to dare me. The same spirit of Geza is manifesting among some of us. I make these statements in Manicaland because this is my home; we do not want divisions here,”  Dr. Tungwarara said.

As internal fights in Zanu PF escalates, Dr Tungwarara vowed to bring unity in the ruling party while calling out ambitious party cadres who are hell bent on challening the authority of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
