THE Lion Lager National Rugby League resumes this weekend after taking a two-week break with two matches lined up at Hartsfield Rugby Ground on Saturday as Matabeleland Warriors host Gweru Sports Club while Western Panthers will host the log leaders Old Hararians.

Fifth-placed Warriors resume their league campaign with a must-win match against Gweru Sports Club as the Ruben Kumpasa-coached outfit seeks to climb into the top four to earn a semi final spot.
Warriors will be hoping to improve on their last performance which saw them lose a seven-point lead to draw 15-15 in a Bulawayo derby against Old Miltonians.
The Panthers-Old Hararians clash will be the pick-of-the-day as the match promises fireworks. The last time these two teams clashed, Old Hararians massacred the Panthers 89-14 in the capital.
Panthers, who had a fairytale start to their league campaign, are on fourth position on the log standings with 18 points from six matches.
Panthers, who head into this weekend’s clash as underdogs, will be looking at their veteran player Silethokuhle “Slatter” Ndlovu, Mayibongwe Ncube, Busani Ncube, Mbongeni Ndlovu as well as Thembelani Ncube.
The visitors will, however, be keen to remain at the summit of the log table and will approach the game with caution as Panthers will be out to cause an upset.

Old Miltonians (OMs) will have a tough encounter as they travel to Harare to take on Old Georgians (OGs) who will be out for revenge after the Bulawayo outfit handed them their first league defeat when the two sides met at Hartsfield in their first clash this season. OMs stunned OGs 24-21.
OMs coach Theo Weale said: “It is going to be an uphill task for us having to travel all that way for this weekend’s game. The advantage will be to the home team. We are going out to prove that our victory against OGs at Hartsfield was not a fluke and that we did deserve it, by going out to win this weekend’s clash. We are not going all that way to lose.”
Meanwhile, Harare Sports Club will have what seems to be an easy fixture when they host a winless Zvishavane Bulls at Harare Sports Club.
