The show, heralded by South African Freddie Gwala, Jeyz Marabini and Sandra Ndebele, saw upcoming artistes impressing an appreciative crowd. Pronix, Imvimbi, Explosion, among others, put up scintillating performances, leaving revellers asking for more.

“I am very happy that we performed and the crowd was excellent, though we did not perform our usual Afro-jazz sounds. We had to switch more to house music because part of the audience did not receive jazz very well. But it was a good show for the people and us musicians,” Pronix said.

Babongile Sikhonjwa, who coordinated the gala, thanked Dube for his support for local artistes for the past decade.

“And as artistes, we support his candidature as MP for Makokoba. He has been assisting artistes and youths in many ways. If he has done that he will do more as MP,” Sikhonjwa added.
