League matches have been postponed once again to pave way for the Warriors who will face Zambia in an African Nations Championship (Chan) second leg, final qualifier in Ndola.

FC Platinum are coming from a 2-2 home draw against Caps United and head coach Lloyd Mutasa said they wanted to use the break to their advantage. “Too much rest can destroy the rhythm of the team.

“After playing Caps United last week, we felt that it was necessary for us to play a friendly against a big team like Chicken Inn this week. “We felt that a match against Chicken Inn would go a long way in keeping the boys in shape and to maintain their match fitness.

“We are also using this match as part of our preparations for the BancABC Sup8r Cup semi-final tie against Monomotapa. “The game is going to indicate the grey areas we need to work on as we also prepare for the coming league games,” he said.

Chicken Inn coach Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu said the match would be good for them as they prepare for the resumption of the league when they face Buffaloes away in Mutare after losing 1-2 to How Mine last week.

“We are just using this game to keep in shape as we do not want to stay inactive. “We are going to use it to prepare for our next league match against Buffaloes,” he said. Both teams are likely to use their mid-season acquisitions as they prepare for the next league matches which promise to be much tougher. The battle for the league championship beckons.

FC Platinum brought in DC Academy striker Marshall Mudehwe while Clemence Matawu, Charles Mutero and Dylan Chivandire will also want to justify why they were brought on board at Chicken Inn. They will welcome back Evans Chikwaikwai from injury. Chicken Inn are on position five with 31 points while FC Platinum are sixth with 30 points on the log table. FC Platinum were the first team to beat Chicken Inn 2-1 at Mandava in the first round of the league and they will meet in the reverse leg in Bulawayo in week 27.
