If fact, the Bulawayo model — now resident in China — is adamant participating in the Belarus pageant was an eye-opener.

Mathe competed against 84 other contestants drawn from all over the world, an event eventually won by a Philippines beauty queen Mutya Datul. The Miss Supranational 2013 winner walked away with $25 000 at Minsk Sports Palace in the Belarus capital, Minsk.

In an interview from her base in China, Mathe revealed to Southern Eye Lifestyle that she was happy that she took part.

“It was a good thing that I took part and I am happy. I have gained a lot of experience and exposure, I enjoyed every second of the camp, especially the final show,” she said.

Mathe congratulated the winning queen and said it was a stiff competition, but she was happy she was the first the Zimbabwean model to take part in the event.

“I thank Zimbabwe, Fingers Modelling Agency and my godmother Sarah Mpofu-Sibanda. She made me the star I am now. I thank you for believing in me and giving me a life time opportunity that every model dreams of,” Mathe said.

Cyclone Ree, as the model is affectionately known, added that Zimbabweans should support their representative by following events online and voting through social networks such as Facebook.
