Lenni Mdawini Sibanda, the script writer, film director and producer confirmed the developments to Southern Eye Lifestyle yesterday.

“We made use of raw talent in the city and we are glad it is complete now. It will be on the streets early next month,” Sibanda said.

“The film is a comic horror about a university couple which discovers a bag full of money and later tragedy strikes when the money transforms into a goblin.”

He said the short film would not be premiered, but would be released and sold in the streets.

“The idea of releasing it in the streets is to enable us to reach everyone. We are afraid if we do cinema people will not come,” Sibanda added.

The cast has Noble Ncube, Donna Ncube, Thubhelihle Moyo and Arthur Makowane.

“Our aim was to entertain and educate by telling our local stories that people face everyday. We hope people will accept it and enjoy and also help us to be better artistes,” Sibanda said.

Bulawayo-born Sibanda grew up in Pumula and went to St Benards High School.

Wonke is his second film after Father’s Day which he did early this year.
