Stock market slips on Delta Beverages loss

HARARE — The stock market closed the week bearish, with the main industrial index retreating 3,20 points to 204,12 points on the back of negative trades in heavyweights, Delta and Innscor.

HARARE — The stock market closed the week bearish, with the main industrial index retreating 3,20 points to 204,12 points on the back of negative trades in heavyweights, Delta and Innscor.

The beverage maker shed five cents to 140 cents with few sales while Innscor traded 1,50 cents lower to 75 cents.

Retailer OK pared off a cent to trade at 20 cents.

Other losses were recorded in National Tyre Services, whose share price lowered by 0,50 cents to close at 2,50 cents and African Sun which traded 0,10 cents lower at 2,60 cents with 5 000 shares trading for $123.

Telecomms group Econet recorded a 0,99 cents gain with over 1 250 million shares, about 50% of the day’s total turnover, exchanging hands for $787 000.

Seed Co and Old Mutual traded unchanged at 90 cents and 270 cents with sales of $180 000 and $206 000 respectively. Turnover was a much improved $1,6 million compared to Thursday’s $465 000.

On a weekly basis, the index lost 7,05 points.

The mining index was flat at 42,87 points as Bindura, Falgold, Hwange and RioZim all traded unchanged. Week on week, the index shed 3,50 points.
