THE WIFE of the late national hero Edward Ndlovu, Mary (71), who was recently injured in a head-on collision involving a Bulawayo-bound Pathfinder luxury coach and a haulage truck, is out of danger and expected to be moved from the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Milpark Hospital in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, South Africa, tomorrow. Her friend, Judith Todd, yesterday said the national hero’s wife had been joined by her daughter in South Africa.

“Fortunately, her other daughter has joined her in Johannesburg. The surgery was successful. They are hoping she will be discharged from the ICU by Friday,” Todd said.

Four people died on the spot when the Pathfinder coach hit a cow that had strayed onto the road.

The driver lost control resulting in a head-on collision with the truck. Mary, who was sitting on the upper deck of the bus, was thrown off the bus on impact.

She was rushed to the private hospital for extensive surgery a day after the accident.
