Angry Met Bank depositors in Bulawayo on Friday turned violent after the bank failed to pay them, forcing police to intervene.

The crowd destroyed the bank’s screen door for the second day running after another riot on Thursday.
Indigenously owned banks Met Bank and Allied Bank were this week hit by riots after they failed to pay depositors desperate to get cash ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The cash shortages have been blamed on the liquidity crunch that has weighed down on the economy for most of part of this year.
