Shot in the arm for Gweru Hospital

A NON-PROFIT organisation based in the United States — Help for Others Inc — run by Zimbabweans, has acquired state-of- the-art medical equipment valued at $200 000 to be donated to Gweru General Hospital.

The organisation’s director Gloria Mpofu said the equipment would be handed over to the Health and Child Care ministry anytime this week once the government sets a suitable date.

Mpofu said her organisation acquired $150 000 worth of medical kits with the help of USAid to be donated to the ministry while the remaining $50 000 supplies would be donated to a refugee group based in Chirumanzu.

“Once the date is set we would this week hand over medical equipment including microscopes, GE medical systems, Isotemp Incubator model 1602D, high blood pressure kits among other medical supplies,” she said.

Other kits to be donated include Tonometer, fibre optic light transferer, body bags, Otoscope, wheelchairs, IV tubes and needles among others.

Mpofu said the organisation would also donate to Ebenezer Refugee project tables, chairs stationery, floor mats and kitchen utensils.
She said this is the second time that her organisation has assisted after they donated to Hozheri Primary School in Lalapanzi last year.

Mpofu, who was born in Gweru said she felt she could help her country by giving back through essential equipment to vital sectors.
