Matabeleland North provincial police spokesperson Inspector Siphiwe Makonese confirmed the death of Mlahlwa Tshuma of Sibangani village under Chief Madliwa in Nkayi.

“I confirm the death of Mlahlwa Tshuma who had been admitted at the health institution on February 6 suffering from TB,” said Makonese.

Makonese said on Wednesday, a nurse aide who was on duty, Hilda Mowa conducted a ward check on patients and found Tshuma asleep in his bed.

“Around 5:20am she went to clean the toilets and found Tshuma hanging from a window frame. He had used a string from his jacket to hang himself,” she said.

A report was made to police in Nkayi who attended to the scene and no foul play is suspected.

Nkayi magistrate Ndumo Masuku waived a post-mortem.
