Mukucha said the tournament would be open to players from Division One and the BPA League.

“We are going to have the singles tournament. This tournament is open to all players, though I cannot say the number of participants because registration will be on Saturday in the morning so I am not sure who is coming and who is not. But we are expecting a competitive tournament,” he said.

Mukucha said there are monetary prizes for the winners, but was not at liberty to disclose them yet.

Exchange Pool Club team manager Peter Dziko said the club will send a good number of players so that they would use the tournament to prepare for the 2014 season that kicks off next week.

Nicodemus Charandura, Calvin Munyanyi, the Dziko brothers Darlington and Brian, Kudakwashe Chiname and the 2013 women’s Carling Black Label Champion Shylet Musonho are some of Exchange Pool Club players expected to take part in the tournament.

“We have good young stars in the form of Calvin (Munyanyi), Brighton and Darlington (Dziko). They are doing well and it is not surprising to see one of them reaching the finals. I have hope on our players as we are also preparing for the season that is about to start,” he said.

Musonho will expect a stiff competition from Shumba Bar’s Nomalanga du’Sart, Sithembiso Dube, Gillgower Robyns and Lucy Mpofu The men’s section will also see a competitive tournament from Gershom Nash of Kings, Terrence Mhindu of Extreme, Evans Dube (Kings), McDonald Shamu of Nkulumane Stars and Hudson Dube of TelOne among others.
