BULAWAYO’S renowned cartoonist Martin Mahenga has published a book which explores different social issues on a lighter note based on bullying and harassment.
The book titled Skizzo v The bully seeks to address bullying in various schools. It is a tale of a new student at a school who has been exposed to bullying.
The veteran cartoonist said the book confronts bullying that has become rampant in various school playgrounds.
“The book tries to capture problems associated with bullying from social to psychological levels.
“It is out of this view that I wrote this book because my wish is to curb bullying in schools through my creative output,” he said.
“The book appeals to children in both primary schools and secondary schools”
The book provides a guide to those exposed to bullying — how they can overcome it without retaliating against their enemies.
“After writing the book addressing the issue of bullying, I decided to include relevant contacts of registered institutions in the country so that those who are exposed to bullying can be able to find proper solutions without causing more problems,” Mahenga said.
He added that he is looking forward to sending samples of his book to various schools in the country and beyond because bullying is a phenomenon that has gone unnoticed in some instances.
