HIGHLANDERS head coach Kelvin Kaindu has a lot of homework to do following Bosso’s 0-2 defeat by Dynamos in the final of the Bob 90 Super Cup at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday. FORTUNE MBELE SPORTS REPORTER
Since coming to Highlanders at the beginning of 2012, Kaindu has not beaten Dynamos and yesterday the Zambian gaffer blamed the loss on mistakes by his charges, saying he believed the match was evenly balanced.
“We made some errors which gave our opponents some advantages. Otherwise the match was 50-50. Our main problem is the final third, that is our attacking. We have learnt from our mistakes and we just hope to work on that area,” Kaindu said.
He reiterated that the outcry for a striker was baseless as he believed he had enough players that could make it work for Highlanders.
Only a week ago, Kaindu said all that was needed was to build confidence in the players that he had and work on consistency.
Sunday’s loss was Highlanders’ second defeat in pre-season after losing to Premier Soccer League (PSL) returnees Chapungu 2-1 in a penalty shoot-out in the CG Msipa Charity tournament semi-final at Ascot Stadium, Gweru.
Former Bosso midfielder Masimba Mambare scored the first goal for Dynamos after a schoolboy blunder by defender Felix Chindungwe in the first half.
Another new face at the Glamour Boys, Ronald Chitiyo, who joined from relegated Monomotapa, made it 2-0 in the second half when he let go a screamer beating Highlanders goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya.

Highlanders had started the match the better side, but wasted chances and allowed DeMbare a comeback to pick up the $45 000 winners’ prize.
Bosso got $25 000 for being runners-up.
Highlanders last beat Dynamos in the Independence Cup final in 2011. The two sides will meet again for the second time this year in Week 12 of the 2014 PSL fixtures.
Last year, the two sides drew 1-1 in Harare in a league match before Dynamos won the reverse fixture 1-0 at Barbourfields Stadium in October.
In 2012, it was 1-1 in Harare and another draw with same scoreline at Barbourfields in the league.
Bosso’s new stars, Kuda Mahachi, Valentine Ndaba and Charles Sibanda failed to live up to their billing against Dynamos on Sunday giving DeMbare a consolation after bowing out of the Caf Orange Champions League.
