THE Bulawayo Metropolitan province needs $54 000 to send 180 athletes to the 2014 National Paralympic Games to be hosted by Marondera from next week Thursday to Sunday. FORTUNE MBELE SPORTS REPORTER

With only a six days before the team goes into camp, Bulawayo has only raised about $7 000 and general manager (marketing and publicity) Dave Simba yesterday said the number of athletes that will travel to Marondera will be determined by how much will be raised.

“Our budget is $54 000 and we have raised about $7 000. We have sent letters to stakeholders and prospective benefactors,” Simba said.

“We are hoping that our athletes go into camp on Tuesday and leave for Marondera on Thursday.

“We are running out of time and it might affect the number of athletes that we are taking there. We selected 180 athletes in the inter-districts competitions that were held on Saturday at White City (Stadium), but that number will be determined by how much we will raise. We are determined to travel with all the athletes who were selected.”

He said they were working on the logistics and nothing would stop them from sending a team.
