THE national senior women’s national football team have been invited for a friendly match by their South African counterparts this month as the two teams prepare for the African Women’s Championships (AWC) final qualifiers set for end of May.

Mighty Warriors play neighbours Zambia in a two-legged affair while South Africa will meet Comoros with the aggregate winners qualifying for the finals set for Namibia this October.

The friendly match, which was confirmed by both parties yesterday, will be played in South Africa on 12 April.

“Our senior women’s football team have been invited for an international friendly match against South Africa. The match will be in preparation for the AWC qualifier against Zambia in May. The team will go into camp for the match on Sunday,” Xolisani Gwesela said. New Banyana Banyana coach Vera Pauw confirmed the friendly on the team’s Twitter handle.
