Langa said this as he adopted Siyazama Grade Six pupil Blessing Ncube last Friday.

Ncube who caught Langa’s attention with his outstanding acting skills was part of the school’s drama group that entertained guests at Shem Mathe’s field day at Ensango village in Shangani.

“I have spoken with my wife (Clara) and we have decided to adopt Blessing. He is now part of the Langa family,” the minister said.

“We will provide everything he wants in terms of school fees and uniforms and find ways to also nurture his acting talent.

“We will have to take him to Amakhosi Cultural Centre during the holidays so that he gets assistance and guidance with his acting talent.”

Langa said he had been impressed by the pupils’ polished performance.

“It is pleasing that whereas people would not expect anything from a resettlement community, we see children with so much talent,” he said.

“If that boy is given a chance to pursue his talent, he will achieve a lot. We want the ministry to come down so that they identify such children.

“In other developed countries, parents take note of their children’s passion and support them. If it is academics they support them towards that direction, if it’s sport or arts, they do the same.”

Langa said he would engage celebrated playwright Cont Mhlanga and poet Albert Nyathi among others to work with the children in nurturing their talents.

“I would like to urge parents to support their children in the various disciplines that they excel in,” he said.

“Not all of them would excel in academics. Some will do well in sport and arts.”
