A 23-YEAR-OLD Gweru officer has appeared in court on allegations of fondling a female colleague during an anti-corruption raid.

Johnson Makonye, who is based at Gweru Rural Camp, allegedly searched Constable Abigail Ganhi and in the process caressed her breasts, putting his arm around her waistline.
Ganhi works at the Gweru Traffic Police section and was on duty at Kudzanai bus terminus when the alleged incident occurred.
Makonye’s trial on charges of indecent assault was deferred to July 3.
The State submitted that on October 22 2013 and at around 9am, Ganhi was deployed together with one Sergeant Sanida to conduct traffic duties.
At around 3pm on the same day, Gweru rural police launched an anti-corruption raid on police officers in the city centre.
The station sent five male officers in plain clothes to Kudzanayi bus terminus.

The cops searched Ganhi and Sanida, and Makonye is alleged to have gone further and grabbed the complainant’s breasts and squeezed her waistline.
Ganhi later made a report at Gweru Central Police Station, leading to Makonye’s arrest.
