
AFTER winning several accolades following an impressive season in the United States, Zimbabwe’s leading amateur golfer Scott Vincent continues to hog the limelight as he was named to the 2014 All-Nicklaus team by the Golf Coaches Association of America. DANIEL NHAKANISO sport REPORTER
The All-Nicklaus team which was created in 2008 is named after one of the greatest golfers of all-time, Jack Nicklaus.
Vincent earned his place in the star-studded team made up of some of the best amateur golfers in the US following an excellent season on the course for Virginia Tech University.
The honour is the latest on a long list of accolades won by Vincent, who ended the season ranked 11th on the US men’s collegiate individual rankings despite still being in his junior year.
Vincent’s record-breaking season saw him becoming the first Virginia Tech University golfer to win three individual tournament titles in a season.
He won the season-opener at the Golfweek Conference Challenge, the VCU Shoot-out and the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
Vincent had six top-five finishes and nine top 10 finishes in 12 events this season and was named the ACC player of the month in September.
The Chapman Golf Club prodigy finished tied for 35th at the 2014 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships in Hutchinson, Kansas, and finished third in the 2014 NCAA Auburn Regional.

He also finished sixth at the 61st Annual ACC Men’s Golf Championships in April.
Meanwhile, local junior golfers continued to sing the blues at the Toyota Junior World Cup in Japan remained rooted to the bottom of the leaderboard after yesterday’s second round.
After starting the second round six shots behind 14th-placed Argentina, the national junior golf team of Stuart Krog, Justin Kersten, Kieran Vincent and Mbongeni Maphosa saw their deficit increase to 10 shots.
Krog was yet again Zimbabwe’s top performer after carding one-over par 72 with Maphosa (72) and Vincent (77) also contributing to the team’s two-round total of 19-over par 445.
