John Jemwa, who is visually impaired, made the appeal when he visited the Southern Eye offices yesterday saying he feared his family would lose the stand as it had fallen behind in monthly payments.

“We were allocated this stand last year and the policy at coucil is that if you fail to clear the difference, they would repossess and re-allocate the stand to someone else and we are appealing to well-wishers so that we can retain this land,” he said.

Jemwa’s wife Vimbai has a muscular dystrophy disability and their 14-month-old baby is also visually handicapped. Jemwa said they were currently staying rent free at a Good Samaritan’s house in Pumula.

Jemwa said his family made ends meet through vending, but what they were getting was a pittance compared to their needs.

He said those wishing to assist could contact them on 0713 749 750 and 0773 661 922 or deposit the money directly into the city council’s Barclays Bank account number 6315015
