The bank’s clients have been failing to access their savings for more than three months.
When Southern Eye visited Allied Bank located along 15th Avenue and Fort Street after 6pm, some clients were milling around inside the banking hall while others were outside. The disenchanted clients said they had been failing to access their full salaries from the bank since last year and the situation was so bad that they could no longer access any money from the bank.
“We are not happy with this bank because from last year we were failing to access our full salaries as we could only withdraw a maximum of $20 per month.
“Now the situation is worse as we cannot withdraw even a cent,” said one of the clients Themba Nyathi.
“We have tried talking to management, but they refer us to Harare as if we opened our accounts in Harare.
“As it is, we are angry and if the situation continues like this we will take the law into our own hands,” he said.

Another client Sihle Dlamini said they had engaged the Salary Services Bureau (SSB) to change banks, but the process was taking long.
“As civil servants, we have gone to the extent of engaging SSB to change our salary accounts so that we access money from other banks, but to no avail as the process is just too slow.”
