The group’s base in Bulawayo is part of the company’s expansion plans for the African market.

deVere group, which has more than 70 offices, 80 000 clients and $10bn under advice globally, launched its first Zimbabwe office in Harare in September 2010.

“We’re delighted to announce the opening of this new office in Zimbabwe’s second city, which represents the next strategic step in expanding our presence across Africa,” Nigel Green, founder and chief executive of deVere group said.

“The launch of the Bulawayo office has primarily been driven by existing and growing demand for our specialist financial services in and around the city.

“deVere is dedicated to helping clients achieve their financial goals wherever they choose to live and to provide regional expertise with a global outlook.

“The new opening has also been fuelled by the enormous potential we see in this area.

“Bulawayo is a major industrial and transport hub that looks destined to attract serious investment over the coming years – and with this will, in turn, bring many more international investors and expatriates who will, it can be reasonably assumed, need our expert cross-border financial advice.

“In general terms, Africa is a major priority for deVere group due to its huge predicted growth, which is being spurred on by further industrialisation, respect for property rights and the encouragement of free markets.

“All of this will, undoubtedly, lead to greater inflows of foreign direct investment.”

deVere group’s Bulawayo office, located in Hillside, is overseen by area manager Shane Helberg who said: “Due to an already strong client base and also a growing community of high-net-worth Zimbabweans and expats, Bulawayo was a logical place in which to open an office.

“We currently have a team of four in Bulawayo, who work closely with our team of nearly 30 in Harare, and we’re set to increase the headcount in both offices imminently in order to meet the ongoing client demand.

“We will also look to expand further in this region, firstly into the Victoria Falls area.”
