The seventh edition of the festival will run under the theme “Transformative ideas for a better society” in partnership with a number of organisations including Women Institute for Leadership Development (WILD), Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association (BPRA) and the National Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (Nango).

“As per tradition, an exhibition, the ideas market, will be held by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) from across the country for purposes of information dissemination in various fields of socio-economic and political pursuit,” a press statement from Bulawayo Agenda reads.

The statement explains that a mobile legal clinic, courtesy of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights will be mounted at the Ideas Market to provide free legal advice to members of the public, while the Zimbabwe Human Rights Association will facilitate an interaction between members of the public and traditional leaders.

“A series of conferences targeting youths, women and men will also be convened,” the statement says.

“These conferences are cumulatively meant to promote dialogue and capture the developmental aspirations of ordinary citizens and inform development actors’ policy making for sustainable development,” it adds.

These conferences will bring together CSOs, government, tertiary education institutions, students, development practitioners from the southern African region, church and traditional leaders as well as ordinary citizens.

The Ideas Festival, which was established in 2008, dedicates time to celebrating and sharing ideas.
