INTERMITTENT power cuts have blighted the hosting of the African Union Sports Council Region V Youth Games in Bulawayo, a situation likely to embarrass the country.

In the lead up to the games, the city centre experienced several power cuts, with many attributing this to preparations for the games.
But it is the two hour power cut mid-morning on Monday that is likely to leave authorities blushing, as most of the city centre and some of the games venues were left with no power.
The local organising committee was not readily available to comment on what disruptions the power cuts had had.
Around lunch power had been restored to most parts of the CBD, although there were reports that some areas were still without electricity.
Zesa southern region spokesperson, Lovemore Chinaka said he was not sure on what is happening.
