‘Sipho Makhabane out of coma’

Fans of gospel music star and producer, Sipho Makhabane, can now breathe a sigh of relief.

MANZINI — Fans of gospel music star and producer, Sipho Makhabane, can now breathe a sigh of relief.

The popular gospel musician is out of danger, and regained consciousness.

According to our sources, “Big Fish” as he is popularly known, spoke for the first time on Saturday since the car accident that left him in a coma on December 28.

Makhabane was involved in a head-on collision in Middelburg, Mpumalanga province in South Africa on his way back from Swaziland and was rushed to Midlife Midmed Hospital.

Local gospel musician, Nduduzo Matse, who was mentored by Big Fish, confirmed that the producer spoke for the first time.

He said he was present when the gospel music mogul woke up yesterday (Saturday) in the intensive care unit (ICU). However, he has not yet been released from ICU as doctors are still observing him, and have said they will only release him once he is fully recovered.

The first person that Makhabane asked for, according to Matse, was bishop Nash Shongwe.

“He shocked us because the first person he asked about was Nash,” he disclosed.

Without hesitation Shongwe was telephoned to notify him of the new developments.

Divine Healing Ministries International founder Shongwe confirmed the matter.

He said he was delighted to hear the new development of his brother in Christ. “Upon hearing that, I was the first person he asked (for) when he woke up, I then said to Nduduzo, Hawu Lomuntfu kube ufile bekutofuna ngimulandzele (if he had died, it would have meant I would be next),” he said lightly.

Shongwe said the Makhabane accident had caused him sleepless nights for the past few days. He said he was now relieved because he could see the light. He also thanked the Almighty for revealing himself to the Makhabane family and fans as well.

Shongwe went to the Voice of the Nation radio station to pass his gratitude to all people who have been praying for a speedy recovery for the gospel singer.

In light of everything, Shongwe has assured fans that Makhabane will be recovered in no time. — Swazi Observer
