Chikafa’s How Mine would be taking on Chapungu at Luveve Stadium in the first game.

Coach Luke Masomere said Tawanda Muparati, former Dynamos skipper and 2013 soccer star of the year will miss the miners’ first three matches due to a nagging ankle injury. Gilbert Banda, Nyasha Mukumbi and Heritein Masuku are injured too.

“Chikafa and Muparati will probably miss our first three matches as they will be out of action for three weeks. They are still injured. Mukumbi has not been training as he got injured against Highlanders on Sunday while Banda and Masuku are also injured. I have a headache in coming up with a team as I have got only 20 fit players including the goalkeepers. But we will do our best,” Masomere said.

How Mine had to be forced to cancel friendly matches, but lost 0-1 to Highlanders on Sunday in the ZNA Charity Shield semi-final.

Chapungu will head to Bulawayo with new players Tongai Mangwendere, Nhlanhla Ncube, Smart Muchabaiwa, Marvelous Dikinya, Moenda Muchingani and goalkeeper Talbert Shumba.

The airmen survived relegation by a whisker last year, ending the season on position 12 with 37 points like army side Black Rhinos, who were booted out of the league.

Chapungu survived even after losing their last game 0-2 to Highlanders at Hartsfield Rugby Ground while Black Rhinos won their last game 2-1 against Bantu Rovers.

John Nyikadzino is still in charge at Chapungu who would be plotting to fell injury-dogged How Mine on Sunday at Luveve Stadium.
