Graduate Ndakaziya (23) appeared before Western Commonage provincial magistrate Willard Mafios Moyo, facing three counts of unlawfully entry, rape and assault.

He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to March 26.

According to the police report, Ndakaziya admitted to the charges of unlawful entry, but denied rape charges, claiming he was in love with the victim.

“I never raped her, we were in love,” he said.

Prosecutor Mufaro Mageza told the court that on the day in question, Ndakaziya waited for everyone next door to go to work and he proceeded to the housemaid and proposed love, but was spurned.

He told her that he was going to teach her a lesson after he was turned down, but the maid took it lightly.

A few hours later, when the maid was done with her chores, she fell asleep in the sitting room and Ndakaziya sneaked into the house and undressed her without her consent.

He later on tried to force himself on her, but was caught as the girl woke up and tried to cry out for help.

“I woke up because I could feel his heaviness on top of me and asked him what he was he doing, but he never replied,” the girl said.

“I screamed, but no one came to my rescue until he managed to overpower me and raped me.”

He threatened the girl not to disclose the incident to anyone and that if she attempted to, he was going to kill her.

After sometime when the girl gathered her strength, she proceeded to a police station and reported the matter, leading to Ndakaziya’s arrest.
