Ndlovu last night said the report carried by Southern Eye had caused confusion as most people felt that he was retiring.

“I never said I am quitting politics,” he said. “I only said I will not be contesting as I am giving young people a chance.

“I will be campaigning for the party and for other candidates as I don’t want to be part of conflicts.”

The Zanu PF politburo member said it was also not true that he had fallen out of favour with President Robert Mugabe over alleged links to a faction linked to former Vice-President Joice Mujuru.

He said his appointment to the politburo and central committee was an indication Mugabe still had faith in him.

Ndlovu said as one of the most senior former Zapu leaders left in Zanu PF, he had no intention of abandoning the ideals of late Vice President Joshua Nkomo.
