The blood of Jesus Christ: What it means to God, Satan, me

HEBREWS 9:22 says: “And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.

HEBREWS 9:22 says: “And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. (or forgiveness).”

Life is in the blood.

Leviticus 17:11 reads: “For the life of the flesh (the creature) is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.”

Guilt-Pain
Sin makes us feel guilty

When we sin, we earn death. Romans 6:23 states that “the wages of sin is death”. Jesus paid this penalty for us by shedding His blood (dying for us in our place).

The word atonement (at-one-ment) means to be made at one with God. Jesus gave his life (shed His blood) on the cross for our atonement (at one ment).

This made it possible for us to be at one with God.

Jesus’s blood means we no longer are His enemy, but His friends, His sons and daughters. What sin does to our life

 Sin separates us from God Isaiah 59:2 says, “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.”

 Sin makes us feel guilty Psalm 38:4 reads, “For my iniquities have gone over my head; Like a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.” Sin allows Satan to accuse us.

Revelation 12:10 states, “For the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.”

Twenty-four hours a day accusation.

 Sin demands the death penalty Ezekiel 18:4 reads,“Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.”

The blood is for God.

The blood of Christ wholly satisfies God’s law — which requires a penalty for breaking the law.

1 John 5:4 says . . .“sin is breaking the law”.

The blood protects us from the penalty of breaking the law (death). In Exodus 12, God commanded the people of Israel to put the blood of a lamb on their door posts to protect them from the destroyer — who would kill all the first born . The lamb was the picture of the Lamb — Jesus —who would come later. God said in Exodus 12:13 reads, “. . . when I see the blood, I will pass over you (protect you). . .” Fellowship is restored by the blood of Jesus.

Romans 5:8-9 says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” Fellowship that is cut by sin is restored through the blood. We are redeemed (purchased back from slavery) by the blood. Ephesians 1:7 says, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” We were slaves in the market place of sin, Christ bought us back. The blood is for man The blood has satisfied God, now it is to satisfy us in the cleansing of our conscience from guilt.

All guilt is washed away. The blood cleanses from guilt.

Hebrews 9:14 reads, “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

The blood sanctifies us. Hebrews 13:12 states, “Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.”

The blood of Jesus makes us holy. The blood brings us close to God Colossians 1:20 to 22 reads, “And by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled. In the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy and blameless, and above reproach in His sight.” We have peace through His blood and it has brought us back from alienation. The blood gives boldness to enter God’s presence. Hebrews 10:19 to 22 says, “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus.

By a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh. And having a High Priest over the house of God.”

Vs 22, “ . . . let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.’

We enter into the Holy place by the blood. We are no longer fearful, but are bold in our approach of the throne. The blood perfects us in the sight of God.Hebrews 10 vs 14, “For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.” We are made perfect by the blood.

The blood is for the devil Satan’s most strategic activity in this age is as the accuser of the brethren.

Revelation 12 vs 10b, “. . . for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.”

Jesus confronts the devil being the High Priest through His own blood.

Hebrews 9 vs 11-14, vs 11, “But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation.” Vs 12, “Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”

Vs 13, “For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh . . .”

Vs 14, “. . .how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

The blood puts God on man’s side against the Devil.

Romans 8:31 to 34 says, “What then shall we say to these things?

If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns?

It is Christ who died, and furthermore, is risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”

Jesus is at the right hand of God and is interceding (praying) for us.

The devil has no ground for accusation against those who have received the work of Christ’s shed blood for them. The blood dissolves all of Satan’s legal rights of ownership.

Colossians 1:14 states, “. . . in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Redemption means “to buy back”. We are under new ownership, and the price that was paid for us was the shed blood of Jesus. I am under new ownership. Acts 20:28 states, “. . . the church of God, which he bought back with his own blood.”

What the blood of Christ has brought us.

l The blood has brought purity of heart.

1 John 1:7 reads, “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

l The blood has brought eternal life John 6:53 and 54 says, “Then Jesus said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”

l The blood has brought us an approach to God Ephesians 2:13 says, “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” We are now able to approach the Holy God.

Conclusion The shed blood of Christ has a meaning to God, to Satan and to me.

Remind yourself of the covenant He has with you: To forgive your sin; to cleanse you from sin; to protect you from Satan’s harm. Christ shed his blood on seven occasions.

lIn Gethsemane — when drops of His sweat were like blood (for our burdens),

lWhen He was beaten (ploughed 39 times on His back) — for our healing. Isaiah 53:5 states, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

lHis visage (face) was marred more than any man for our sins. Isaiah 52:14, “Just as many were astonished at you, so His visage was marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of men.”

lWhen a crown of thorns was forced on his head. Thorns are a symbol of a curse in Genesis. We are free from curses, lWhen His hands were pierced by nails, blood flowed for our walk with Him,

lWhen his feet were pierced by nails, blood flowed for our work with Him,

lWhen a spear was thrust on His side while hanging on the cross. (Blood and water) — for the new bride (you and me).
