Matambanadzo and Mawire were being charged with assaulting fellow party member, Sabikwa Msipha in Amaveni, Kwekwe, on August 11.
Gweru magistrate, Shotgame Musaiona ruled that evidence proffered by the State could not sustain a conviction.
The duo through their lawyer, Liberty Mashanyare had denied the charges insisting that the complainant is the one who assaulted Mawire, adding Matambanadzo only intervened in a bid to restrain them.
Mashanyare said Mawire acted in self-defence as Msipha attacked him.
Allegations were that on August 11 at around 3pm, Msipha was on his way to Amaveni Community Hall to attend a Heroes’ Day function when he passed through Bloodspot Building owned by Matambanadzo.
