Luveve man in court for robbery, carjacking

Sibanda, who is alleged to have stabbed a motorist whom he later robbed of his cash and vehicle, was not asked to plead when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya.

He was remanded to September 17 this year. gavel in court The court heard that on August 29 this year, Sibanda was in the company of Cosmas Ncube, who is already in remand custody, and Roy Mudiwakure, who is still at large, when they were offered a lift by John Simba from Chigumira shopping centre in Luveve township at around 2am.

It is alleged Samba was driving his vehicle, a Mazda, while in the company of his friend Sinini Ndlovu.

The State alleges when they reached Luveve, the trio advised Samba that they had reached their destination, but when he stopped the car, they pounced on the two men, stabbing them with a knife several times on the neck and hands before dragging them out of the car. They then ransacked the car and stole it together with their victims’ belongings.

The car was later found abandoned in Burnside and a report was made to the police, leading to Ncube’s arrest who then implicated Sibanda.
