Acting town clerk, Edgar Mwedzi said the water crisis, which began last Friday, was expected to continue until tomorrow.
Mwedzi urged residents to use water sparingly, as the city faces supply interruptions.
“The City of Gweru would like to inform all its valued customers that the city is experiencing a reduced pumping capacity since Friday, February 19, this is due to pumping maintenance at Gwenoro water works,” Mwedzi said.
“We anticipate the interruption to continue until Friday, 26 February.”
In recent, weeks incessant power cuts at Gwenoro Dam waterworks have been causing water shortages in the city.
Acting director of engineering services, Praymore Mhlanga said an electrical fault had caused the breakdown of a power transformer, which he said had since been repaired.
