Adams Ndlovu of Johnsly resettlement area in West Nicholson pleaded guilty to assault charges when he appeared before Gwanda provincial magistrate Maphios Moyo early this week.
The court heard that on February 16 this year, MargaretSibanda approached Ndlovu, who is employed by her neighbour, as a domestic worker and ordered him to come and collect his bull, which had strayed into her herd for almost a year.
This did not go down well with Ndlovu, who started hurling insults at Sibanda.
Sibanda ordered Ndlovu to stop insulting her, as she was an elderly person, who deserved to respect.
Ndlovu, who was carrying an axe, then struck Sibanda twice on the head resulting in her sustaining a swollen head.
She reported the matter to police, leading to Ndlovu’s arrest.
