Gloria Raundi (31), Mavuka Nkomo (69) and June Masango (76) pleaded not guilty to the fraud charge when they appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya last Thursday. They were granted $300 bail each and remanded to Friday.

The court heard that sometime in September 2014, the complainant, Thembelihle Ndlovu of Paddonhurst in Bulawayo heard that Raundi was selling a piece of land identified as plot number 18 Sharona Park in Umguza.

She made enquiries with Raundi at her offices at Tredgold building on September 15.

She found Raundi with Nkomo and Masango and the three allegedly convinced her to buy the plot.

Ndlovu was advised that the land cost $5 000 and paid deposit of $3 000, with the balance to be settled after relevant paperwork for the stand had been drawn up.

It is the State case that in December 2014, Ndlovu was approached by one TD Dube, who said the plot belonged to him, as he had an offer letter from the Ministry of Lands and Rural Resettlement.

Ndlovu informed Raundi about the development, but the latter allegedly became evasive, prompting her to file a police report leading to the trio’s arrest.
