Eviction turns violent in Waterfalls

Thulani Nyamhunga (18) and Kudakwashe Masusa (25) were sentenced to 20 months imprisonment each.

TWO Harare men appeared at the Mbare Magistrates Court charged with assaulting peace officers.

Thulani Nyamhunga (18) and Kudakwashe Masusa (25) were sentenced to 20 months imprisonment each.

Six months of each sentence were suspended on condition of good behaviour, leaving an effective 14 months behind bars.

The court heard that on October 9, 2025, at around 10:30am in Stoneridge Park, Waterfalls, Charles Chikosa was on duty conducting an eviction with his workmates Jeteri Rugube, Nyasha Madamombe, Marcus Name, Farai Marwa, Kunyenya Nyika, Tafadzwa Potoria, Tatenda Sithole and Blessed Saymore Mushowe.

A group that included Nyamhunga and Masusa arrived in a white Toyota Wish and a Honda Fit, whose registration number was not recorded.

The pair, together with accomplices still at large, resisted eviction and flogged Chikosa with sticks and tree branches.

They demanded that Chikosa leaves the premises, adding that they were the owners.

It is further alleged that Nyamhunga and Masusa forced Chikosa to return the property that had been removed from the premises.

The court also heard that Chikosa did not sustain visible injuries and was not medically examined.

Chikosa sought police assistance, which led to the arrest of the two accused persons.
