Contractor dies in Triangle refinery accident

TRIANGLE, Jul 17, (NewsDay Live) – A contractor engaged by Triangle Limited died Thursday following an accident that occurred at the company on July 14.

In a statement Friday, Triangle management said the now-deceased Jeffrey Mushara worked for a company contracted by the sugar processor.

Triangle said following the accident, Mushara was rushed to the company’s Colin Saunders Hospital before being airlifted to a medical facility in Harare for specialist care, where he died on Thursday morning.

“On behalf of everyone at Triangle Ltd, we extend our deepest condolences to Jeffrey’s family, friends, colleagues and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are with them as they come to terms with this tragic loss,” the company said.

Chief executive officer Tendai Masawi said the incident had affected the entire organisation.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Jeffrey Mushara,” he said.

“On behalf of all at Triangle Ltd, I extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

“This is a tragic incident that has affected all of us. Our focus is on supporting those impacted and cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of every person working at our operations.”

The company said it was fully co-operating with the relevant authorities and other stakeholders as investigations into the incident continue.
