IN a bold step towards gender inclusivity and economic empowerment, Youth Network Connect will host the prestigious Imbokodo Women Business Awards on August 30 celebrating visionary women driving change in business and leadership.
The awards, themed Empowered Women Empower Women — Trailblazing Leadership in Business, aim to honour female entrepreneurs, executives and leaders who are transforming communities through innovation, resilience and leadership.
Speaking to Southern Eye, Youth Network Connect secretary-general Anamaria Mawere said the Imbokodo Awards were “more than a celebration — they are a movement”.
“These awards were founded to acknowledge women’s critical roles in commerce, leadership and social transformation,” she said.
“Historically, women have been underrepresented in leadership forums, but we are here to change that.”
Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution minister Judith Ncube is expected to grace the event, where respected businesswomen and professionals will also be present.
The event’s motto, She Builds, She Leads, She Inspires, embodies the mission to elevate women who are not only excelling in business, but are also paving the way for others.
Mawere said empowering women was both a moral and strategic necessity, with women-owned enterprises playing a vital role in job creation and poverty alleviation.
