Highlanders’ longest-serving player, goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda aka ‘Dawu or Mangoye is likely to take up a coaching role at the club this coming season, if no further changes are made.
This comes as Sibanda is currently playing the role of goalkeepers’ coach during Bosso’s pre-season programme, which is underway in Bulawayo.
The club and Sibanda are yet to officially announce the development, but indications are the veteran goalkeeper could replace Tembo ‘Chokry’ Chuma, who recently left the club for MWOS, or become part of Bosso’s goalkeepers’ technical team.
Last season marked Sibanda’s 16th year of service at Bosso, having made his debut for the club in 2009 following promotion from the junior teams.
The 36-year-old shot-stopper is a celebrated figure within the Bosso family, having only donned Amahlolanyama’s kit throughout his career spanning over one and a half decades.
Arguably, that makes Dawu a Highlanders legend.
