IN what can be described as a rare piece of good news for one of the country’s football giants, Dynamos have managed to avert a Fifa transfer embargo after they paid the dues owed to former players, Ghanaians Emmanuel Paga and Fredrick Ansa-Botchway.
This crucial development comes as a significant relief, as it lifts a Fifa ban that threatened to cripple their ability to sign new players in the mid-season transfer window which opened this week.
Fifa had issued a 45-day ultimatum in May, threatening a ban on all transfer activity if the debt of US$18 500 owed to Paga (US$8 500) and Ansa-Botchway (US$10 000) was not paid.
Dynamos’ executive member in charge of marketing, David Chikomo, confirmed that the club had successfully cleared all outstanding payments.
“It’s true that we have paid our dues to our former players Emmanuel Paga and Fredrick Ansa-Botchway,” Chikomo told NewsDay Sport.
“It was an issue that was bothering us as a club considering how much we want to change our fortunes in the second half of the season.
“Now we can focus on participating in the transfer window and give our technical team what they want. We believe this is just the beginning of good things to come for the country’s biggest football brand.”

This dismal run cost former coach Lloyd Chigowe his job, with Saul Chaminuka stepping into the hot seat.
However, Chaminuka has also struggled to ignite the team, leaving them languishing second from bottom with just 15 points, although a mere three points from safety.
The spectre of relegation looms large, a stark and painful reality for a club of Dynamos’ stature.
However, breakthrough is perfectly timed for Chaminuka, who has consistently emphasised the urgent need for experienced additions to his youthful squad as well adding some fire power upfront.
DeMbare have the worst strike force in the league, having scored just six goals this far, two behind Chicken Inn and Kwekwe United who have eight apiece.
The ability to finally enter the transfer market actively means the club can pursue targets like veteran Allan Gahadzikwa and Masimba Mambare, who were previously linked with a move from Kwekwe United.
While Kenneth Pasuwa’s season-ending injury is a blow, the freedom to recruit provides a vital lifeline.
