The local government conference is an annual gathering of local authorities and all stakeholders to discuss municipal service delivery challenges and come up with practical and sustainable solutions.

According to the latest council minutes, the Town Clerk, Middleton Nyoni reported that the council received an email message on April 17 from Innotec Multimedia, which is a social economic research and advisory organisation based in Bulawayo.

“The annual service delivery conference for local government will this year be held in Bulawayo and Innotec extends gratitude to Bulawayo City Council for their support over the last three years,” read the message. “As has become the norm Innotec kindly requests Bulawayo City Council, as the host city to partner with us for this important annual event.”

The organisation said the theme for this year’s conference was “Investments and Partnerships for Municipal Infrastructure Development.”

Innotec said the conference will this year incorporate three other events namely the waste, water and energy infrastructure investment forum, local authorities’ policy makers’ forum and the municipal suppliers’ expo.

Innotec pointed out that in return, the organisation would provide 10 complimentary passes for the Bulawayo delegation to the conference, excluding speakers and an exhibition stand all valued at over US$4 000.

After discussions, the council resolved that the invitation to partner with Innotec Multimedia for the 4th annual service delivery be declined on account of financial constraints.
