BULAWAYO police have arrested one of the city’s most wanted murder suspects, Gift Mutenga. LINDA CHINOBVA OWN CORRESPONDENT
Mutenga (36) had been on the run for more than 10 years after allegedly murdering Nkosilathi Ndlovu in December 1999 following a misunderstanding. Mutenga has been living in South Africa and was arrested on December 17 when he returned home for the festive season.
“I can confirm that we have arrested one of the most wanted persons for murder and there are still more who are on the run,” Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo, said.
He said police would take advantage of the festive season to track down the most wanted criminals who could have been hiding in neighbouring countries.
Recently police revealed that more than 100 criminals were on the run in Bulawayo for offences including murder and armed robbery.
Moyo urged the public to assist the police with information on the whereabouts of some of the wanted criminals.
