A 15-YEAR-OLD Magwegwe North boy in Bulawayo fled from home after his uncle allegedly sodomised him, a court has been told. SILAS NKALA STAFF REPORTER
This emerged when the 27-year-old uncle, who cannot be identified to protect the boy’s identity, appeared before West Commonage magistrate Themba Chimiso on Saturday facing charges of aggravated indecent assault (sodomy).
The uncle denied the charge and Chimiso remanded him in custody to March 28 pending the setting of a trial date. Prosecutor Mufaro Mageza told the court that on an unknown date, but between 2013 and 2014, the man removed the boy’s trousers while they were at home in Magwegwe North and sodomised him.
he sodomy occurred on several occasions during which sometimes the uncle abused the boy without wearing a condom.
When the boy realised that his uncle was not going to stop sodomising him, he fled and sought refuge at a neighbour’s house. The neighbour made a report to the police.
The boy was taken to hospital where a doctor compiled a report indicating that he had been abused and the uncle was arrested. In a statement to the police, the boy said his uncle had been sodomising him for a long time.
“Every time he comes home at night, he removes my trousers and wears a condom and starts sodomising me till morning.
“Even if he finds me sleeping, he wakes me up and starts his custom of sodomising me,” the boy said in a statement to the police.

The boy said he ran away from home on March 10 this year and related his ordeal to a neighbour.
The neighbour then told a neighbourhood watch committee member who then effected a citizen’s arrest and handed the uncle over to the police.
