Hosia Rufasha allegedly flung a wheel spike under Kudakwashe Mativenga’s car and punctured the rear tyre. Rufasha yesterday appeared in court on charges of malicious damage to property. Allegations are that on March 26 and at Wimpy garage, Rufasha was on duty with other municipal police officers clamping vehicles.

The complainant parked his vehicle next to where Rufasha and his colleagues were operating from. Rufasha approached Mativenga, who was moving his car and threw a wheel spike under his vehicle deflating the rear tyre.

This did not go down well with Mativenga who made a report to the police, leading to Rufasha’s arrest. Rufasha, through his lawyer Jumo Mashoko, is, however, denying the charge and in his defence said Mativenga moved his vehicle despite being advised to stop as he had been clamped for parking in an undesignated zone.

He said Mativenga later returned looking for Rufasha saying he wanted to fix him. The trial continues tomorrow.
