A 19-YEAR-OLD Binga man was yesterday brought before the Hwange Magistrates’ Court accused of raping a married woman.

Ezekiel Dabi of Lusulu village was convicted on his own plea of guilty by Hwange provincial magistrate Portia Mhlanga, who remanded him in custody for sentence tomorrow.
For the State, Tinomupeyi Mbiza told the court that on September 12 at around 10pm, Dabi went to the 32-year-old woman’s homestead and gained entry into her bedroom hut by climbing on the roof of the thatched hut and removing some thatch grass.
The woman, who was sleeping with her two minor children in the absence of her husband, screamed for help and tried to light a candle, but Dabi strangled her.
He threatened to kill her with a knife if she continued screaming and she complied.
He then ordered her to lie on the bed and raped her once. Dabi then fled and the woman alerted her neighbours and Dabi’s parents that she had been raped.
The matter was immediately reported to the Lusulu village head, leading to Dabi’s arrest the following morning.

Dabi begged the magistrate to give him a lesser sentence as he was still a student and that at the time of the offence he couldn’t control his sexual craving and that is why he had violated his neighbour.
